Heart Bright Dark

In her most recent body of work, Heart Bright Dark, Evans explores the element of light to illuminate the juxtapositions of the mundane with the supernatural, places of safety and danger, and how we hold these forces within our own hearts as we struggle to inhabit the world humanely.  Inspired by Evans’ own photographic investigation of flooded woodlands, and her study of master painters Poussin, Bassano, De Hooch, Parkes Bonington, and Cropsey, the Heart Bright Dark series includes sixteen new oil paintings.
